The second Hank read that Olivia's door was open, she cursed to herself and shut her laptop part way, clambering to her feet. "Dad! I'll be in Liv's room!" she called out through the open door.

"You don't finish that assignment, there's gonna be hell to pay, kid!" he barked just before she unceremoniously shut the door.

"Whatever, motherfucker." she huffed under her breath, grabbing her laptop bag and her schoolbooks before padding down the corridor to Liv's room. She was really starting to hate the fact that everything everyone had to say about her was spot on...being known that well again was a little unnerving.

Liv was a band geek and annoying as shit...but she was also easygoing, and just as clueless as Hank most of the time, without being at a total loss. The two of them could swap advice that would either fail or fly, and all without the stupid adult bullshit getting in the way.

Without even bothering to announce herself, Hank got the door open to Olivia's room without knocking and kicked it shut, moving over to drop her stuff on the table.

"'re a fucking moron." she declared without preamble, pointing at Olivia for emphasis when she had a hand free. "You're a goddamn fool, and you need to be sterilized so you don't procreate and shit. You have *not* been flirting with that dumb motherfucker."

Completely used to the Hank tirades, Olivia merely sighed and set her sheet music aside. "I have too," she insisted, shifting to sit down on the bed rather than be stretched out was she was previously. "I've smiled, I've teased, I've done the shoulder brush...I even tried Bee's trick. You know, that thing she does where she..." Olivia tipped her head a little and half-smiled, lowered her gaze and lifted it again in a sweet sort of 'come hither' stare. "And nothing," she continued with a huff. "I read 'He's Just Not That Into You,' I know how to take a hint. Now bring your books over here, what are you studying? Revolutionary, Civil War, Depression era, gold rush, what?"

Hank snorted, moving over to plop down on the bed next to her. "Fuck that shit...this is way better than my fucking homework." she replied bluntly. "Dude, have you seriously considered giving the jeans a rest for a while and putting on a motherfucking *skirt?* And a top that shows a little more cleavage. His tongue will be hanging out of his mouth, and know something? When he starts looking, he'll start really *noticing.*"

Sighing, Hank flopped back onto the bed with a roll of her eyses. "'re supposed to be smart, right?"

"I do wear skirts," Olivia protested, rolling her eyes and standing to grab Hank's school things before flopping back down on the bed. She dug out her black-framed glasses and put them, then flipped through the history book. "More than you do. And I am smart, smart enough to know when to drop a subject. Hint, hint. All right, what chapter are you on?"

"Hello, have you met me? I never take a hint." Hank snorted, sitting up on her elbows. "If those are skirts, I'm Mother-fucking-Theresa. You wear freakin' koolats, bitch. You need to hike it up to borderline slutty...borderline, not full on. But I will *never* have legs like yours, and as long as you got 'em? You need to show 'em off."

She paused, rising to take her book from Olivia and toss it aside. "Dude. I will get Almost-Mom in on this if I gotta."

"Your legs are fine," Olivia sighed, rolling her eyes and giving up--momentarily--on changing the subject. "I'm like five inches taller than you, that's the only reason you think my legs are better. I do not wear koolats. I wore a sexy dress the other night, when we went clubbing! The red one! OK, maybe it wasn't short, but it was still sexy! Now, can we please do what your dad thinks you're in here doing before he comes and beats on the door to strangle us both for goofing off?"

Hank rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "If that's sexy? I'm a perky blonde cheerleader." she deadpanned. "And fuck my schoolwork...hell, fuck my dad, he's being an asshole."

Standing, Hank began to pace her father, she got easily agitated, but unlike her father she sometimes couldn't contain the physicality of her own emotion. "What you need to do is just fucking ask him out. No bullshit. And whore yourself out...just a tiny bit, and not fucking literally. Just...fucking *wow* him, girl. Seriously. Catch his freaking eye, and the rest will follow."

Rolling her eyes, Olivia propped her chin her hand and calmly watched Hank pace. "Hon, I have never in my life resorted to 'slutting it up' to get a guy's attention, and I don't plan to start now! If he doesn't notice me for me, then maybe, just maybe, he's not worth it. You didn't have to do that with Joe. He liked you cause he liked you, not cause you look good in stretchy jeans and Jimmy Choos."

She paused, then shrugged and leaned back against the headboard, taking the history book back and absently flipping through it. "Besides...I don't I'd like him as much if he turned out to be that shallow. He's not. That's why I like him. It's just too much age difference, Hank, no big deal." She frowned down at something in the book, then scoffed softly and shook her head. "I swear. I don't know who writes these things, but they take something really interested and cool and make it dry as burnt toast."

Hank rolled her eyes and flopped back on the bed with a grunt, scowling hard at the ceiling. Olivia was usually way smarter than that...but clearly the dumb broad had no clue that to get anywhere with a guy, you had to appeal to the Darwinian imperative.

Anyone who fucking paid attention in science knew that love had nothing to do with attraction. It was one of the big reasons Hank usually didn't pay much attention to cute boys...she knew it was all biology and hormones.

Joe had gotten to a whole fuck of a lot more than that with her...and clearly Olivia was bypassing biology all together and making it her life's goal to drive Hank completely insane.

Rather than argue the point, she simply rolled on her stomach when Olivia commented on her book and rolled her eyes. "Why? What the fuck's the problem with it besides the obvious?"

"They just...make everything so cut and dry," Olivia remarked, frowning down at a particular entry. "They can't begin to explain what the Depression was really like...God, we have no appreciation of what we've got these days, seriously."

Shaking herself, she closed the book and set it aside again, folding her arms across her chest. "So when's Joe coming back? You're nicer when he's around."

Hank raised an eyebrow, glowering dubiously at Olivia as she spoke in a manner that wasn't altogether unusual, but no less freaky than it always was. It bugged Hank a little that she could eviscerate a demon, but couldn't stand it when Olivia started sounding like her grandma used to.

"All right, first? No freaky deaky shit." she grumbled, propping her chin in one hand. "And second, I have no fucking clue. Stupid motherfucker doesn't call me nearly as often as he should." //Which is every ten seconds.// she added silently, hating herself as she did. She had a serious love/hate relationship with the way Joe made her feel...and she was pretty sure she was in love with him at this point.

No...she knew she was in love with him. And loving someone was a weakness in her world...a weakness that was one day going to be used against her.

"I am not...doing the freaky deaky shit," Olivia huffed, rolling her eyes. "I'm just *saying*...nevermind, just nevermind." She sighed lightly and leaned back against the headboard, tipped her head a little at Hank. "You're lucky, y'know."

"Dude, you totally are with that whole 'back in my day, you whippersnapper' vibe you've got going on. *Again.*" Hank complained. "No wonder your mom thinks you're all reincarnated and're probably older than fucking all of us combined or something. It's *freaky* and weird, so fucking stop."

When she remarked on Hank being lucky, Hank scowled and tilted her head, flipping her hair back over her shoulder. Lucky? Well...yeah, maybe, but...

Having no clue what she meant, Hank huffed and rolled her eyes. "Yeah? How you figure, princess?" she grunted, rising long enough to toe off her shoes and flop down on the bed, stretching her legs out on either side and bending to try and touch her head to her left knee. Her dad was teaching her to do the splits like he could, and he kept ragging on her about flexibility being a constant struggle, so she'd taken to stretching at every opportunity to improve.

Olivia decided to let the 'you're being freaky again' thing slide and focused on other things. "Yeah...I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm lucky too. We have a great family, just..." She trailed off and sighed lightly, trying to decide how to say it without sounding like a big baby. "I have this weird feeling that I'm *missing* something. I don't know what it is. I never used to feel like this...I mean, even if I'd never met my sisters, I was perfectly happy, just me and my mom, but ever since I've been hanging out with you guys, I've felt like I'm missing something really important. And I don't know what it could possibly be."

"Like a squeeze monkey?" Hank asked bluntly, raising an eyebrow. At Olivia's look, she shrugged. "What? I felt it when I first got here, too! I was the only one not paired off, and it sucked ass! So I been there, done that, got the frickin' t-shirt...and frankly, I'm glad I ain't wearin' it no more."

With a huff, she sat up enough to crawl up on the mattress and stretch out next to Olivia, removing the pillow from beneath her head to lay flat out on her back. "Maybe it's the family itself...I mean, I know we're in there? But we ain't *in* there. Dad, Aunt Keeks, Uncle ain't getting in that damn circle. And Bee 'n Carter...they sorta got it, too, just not as hardcore."

She paused, toying with her own fingers with a nonchalant shrug. "I'm not getting all mushy and shit, but they got these lives, y'know? These memories they share, and their folks...we don't got a place in that, so we're kinda the odd ones out."

"I don't...I don't think that's it," Olivia replied slowly. "I mean, yeah, that's part of it. But not all of it." She paused, a slight smirk touching her lips. "I can't imagine you being put out because you didn't have a boyfriend. I always thought you were, I don't know...all removed from that sort of thing."

Hank snorted and rolled her eyes, not answering at first. After about a minute, however, she sighed and shrugged. "Maybe...a little. I mean...I notice guys and shit? But I got better shit to do with my time. And fighting...releases a lot of tension, so I'm not dying to get laid or shit."

She paused, sitting up again and crossing her legs underneath her. "After Mom died...I just felt kinda lonely all the time. With Joe...I don't feel it so hard."
